made some terrariums with some glass vessels i had laying around. one is a cookie jar, one a small peanut butter jar and one is a cover for a lightbulb which has a metal protective cage which i left out for this project. i’ve been seeing a lot of terrarium projects around lately and wanted to give it a go for myself. how long will the moss last and remind me of the green that we won’t see for a few more months when fall and winter rolls around? thanks to the heckscher state park on long island for the moss!

so this is my cousin nicole who is a traveling occupational therapist. she just moved to nyc for a gig up in white plains (yeah we get to hang out all summer!) and the company she works for usually hooks her up with large and swanky apartments. but this time the upper east side digs were a bit on the dingy and boring side. so this past weekend i took my fabric scraps and headed up to see what we could do to liven up the place.

so my boyfriend lee is no stranger to making home-made jerky. yes he marinates his own meat, jerkifies it in a slow, low-heat 50’s style enamel gas stove and gives it to our friends. he is the jerky dealer of our neighborhood. recently, for a dessert party at our friend patrick and rebecca’s house, he turned things up a notch with a candied molasses outer shell dipped in pepitos (pumpkin seeds). if there is a blue ribbon for jerky making out there, he will win it.

well it’s been about 1 month since my parent’s dog molly passed away. she was 8 1/2 yrs. old but still very energetic and full of life which is why it was totally unexpected. we learned later that it was a heart defect which caused the sudden onset of rapid breathing on saturday afternoon which lead to her passing that sunday morning. i took some pictures of molly over the holidays while we were outside on the ice-crusted snow looking for the reflection of mars in the moon.
